Your questions about :
CAR RENTAL FORMALITIES
How to pickup and return the car. How to use it during the car rental
What are the formalities at the start of the rental?
You will need to show us the driving licence of the driver or drivers concerned and a credit card bearing your name.
If you have booked online, we will have all your personal details. Your contract will be ready and therefore the formalities will be reduced.
When do I pay for my hire?
At your chosen branch, at the start of the rental.
If you have paid online, you'll save time on the day of rental.
Do you accept all bank cards?
Yes, except for Maestro and Electron cards.
Will a deposit be deducted from my credit card when I pick up the vehicle?
No. Europcar will not debit the deposit amount, but will require a pre-payment authorisation based on the amount of the hire and the choice of vehicle.
What must I do before setting off?
Check the condition of the vehicle inside and out. If you notice any anomalies not stated in the "Vehicle condition" data sheet, report them to your branch before you leave.
Check that the tank is full.
What are the formalities on my return?
Take a detailed inventory again in the presence of a Europcar agent. Sign and hand in the "Vehicle condition" data sheet.
Return the vehicle's keys and any accessories (infant seat, GPS, removal trolley, etc.).
There will be nothing to pay, unless there are any supplements not foreseen at the time of booking (fuel, additional kilometres…).
Do I need to fill the tank before returning the vehicle?
The vehicle is supplied to you with a full tank. On your return, you have 2 options:
- You fill the tank
- Or we top up with the missing fuel (which will be charged at the price displayed at the branch)
Can I return the vehicle to another branch?
Yes, it is possible to do so. But you must advise us at the time of booking.
Please note! It is always more economical to return the vehicle to the same branch. We recommend that you compare prices by simulating an estimate online for a "One way" and a "Return journey”.
Can I return the vehicle to my branch outside opening hours?
No, not usually.
If you are unable to do so within the opening hours, please get in touch with your branch. In exceptional cases, you may be able to deposit the keys in a secure letterbox, for an additional charge. Please note! You remain liable for the vehicle until the branch opens.
Can I take my hire vehicle abroad?
Your insurance will not cover you for driving in every country. Before hiring a vehicle, please refer to article 1 of the General terms and conditions of rental.
What do I do if I have an accident with my Europcar hire vehicle?
You must notify your hire branch immediately.
In the glove compartment of your vehicle, you will find a Car accident report form. This must be completed and sent to your hire branch within 24 hours.
And what if my vehicle breaks down?
Contact our round-the-clock assistance team. You'll find the telephone number on the ignition keys to your hire car.
