Pont-Château, a city at the crossroads of Brittany and Nantes
At the crossroads of the roads to Nantes, Vannes and Saint-Nazaire, Pontchâteau is built on the banks of the Brivet.
The city is marked by the epic, in the 18th century, of the great missionary Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort. Having come to preach in the region, the latter marked his time with the erection of an ordeal which has become, over the years, the most frequented ordeal in France. From the top of the hill on which it is placed, you can see the Brière marshes, the banks of the Loire and the Gâvre forest.
